I’ve been creating and facilitating retreats and intimate gatherings for many years.
And the longer I’ve done this, the simpler my idea of a good retreat has become.
I don’t think you need to spend every waking hour working on yourself.
I don’t think every breakfast needs a workshop attached to it.
And I definitely don’t think you should come home exhausted from something that was supposed to
help you feel better.
Sometimes what we need is much simpler.
A beautiful place.
Good food.
Sleep.
Movement.
Conversations that aren’t rushed.
Time alone.
A little guidance.
And enough distance from everyday life to hear ourselves think again.
That’s the kind of retreat I want to create.
I’m currently creating my next retreat.
It will bring together much of what I’ve learned over the years, but also where my work is going now.
The Double Touch Method.
Guided practices.
Rest and better sleep.
Movement and strength.
Food and nourishment.
Longevity.
Midlife and menopause conversations.
Time outside.
Time together.
And perhaps most importantly, time when absolutely nothing is expected of you.
This won’t be a retreat where you’re given a timetable from sunrise until bedtime.
There will be structure.
There will be things I really want to share with you.
But there will also be afternoons when you can go to the beach, read, sleep, wander around, have a
massage or simply do nothing.
Because doing nothing is sometimes exactly the point.
This retreat is especially for people who feel like life has become very full.
Maybe you’ve spent years taking care of everyone else.
Maybe your body is changing.
Maybe you’re entering a completely different chapter of your life.
Maybe you’re interested in aging well and taking better care of yourself but you’re overwhelmed by all
the information about longevity, hormones, supplements, sleep, strength and everything else we’re
apparently supposed to be doing.
Or maybe nothing dramatic is happening at all.
Maybe you simply want a few beautiful days away.
You don’t need to arrive with a problem that needs solving.
You don’t need experience with meditation.
You don’t need to know anything about chakras.
And you certainly don’t need to be good at yoga.
You just need to come.
I want mornings to begin slowly.
Coffee.
Breakfast.
Maybe movement.
Maybe a guided practice.
Some mornings we’ll practice the Double Touch Method together.
We’ll talk about things that become increasingly important as we get older – sleep, strength, stress,
menopause, movement, connection and the everyday habits that can help us feel better now and in
the years ahead.
There will be beautiful meals.
There will be conversations.
There will be quiet.
And there will be plenty of time when you aren’t required to participate in anything at all.
This isn’t about squeezing as much as possible into a few days.
It’s about creating enough space to actually enjoy being there.
The Double Touch Method will be one of the practices I’ll share during the retreat.
It’s a guided self-touch practice I developed after creating a 26-minute audio that became one of my
most loved and highly reviewed practices.
Instead of simply lying down and receiving, you use your own hands.
I guide you through where to place them, moving through different areas of the body and chakra
points while bringing attention to what you may want to calm, soothe or gently release.
The first touch is yours.
The second is my guidance.
It’s quiet, simple and something you can take home with you.
I keep coming back to islands.
Maybe because I grew up with them.
Maybe because there’s something about being surrounded by water that makes it easier to feel
removed from normal life for a little while.
Bali has been part of my work and my own practice for many years.
Palawan brings me back to the Philippines and to something much more personal – where I’m
originally from and an island culture that has always felt familiar to me.
And Ibiza gives me the possibility of creating that same feeling closer to Europe.
I can imagine retreats in all three.
The next location and dates are still being decided.
I’ve facilitated retreats and intimate gatherings over many years, particularly in Bali, the Philippines
and Southeast Asia.
But if you’ve followed me online, you may not have seen very much of them.
There’s a reason.
I’ve always been uncomfortable with the idea that someone’s private experience should become
somebody else’s marketing.
People come away for all kinds of reasons.
Sometimes they’re exhausted.
Sometimes they’re grieving.
Sometimes they’re going through a separation.
Sometimes they’re questioning what they want to do next.
And sometimes they’re perfectly happy and simply want time away.
Whatever brought them there, I’ve always felt protective of that space.
So I didn’t spend retreats constantly asking everyone to pose for photographs.
I didn’t photograph emotional moments.
And I didn’t assume that because someone attended something with me, I had permission to share
their face or their story.
I still don’t.
I have photographs.
Beautiful ones.
The places we’ve stayed.
The rooms before everyone arrived.
Morning practices.
Mats on the floor.
Tables set for dinner.
Flowers.
Food.
Pools.
Gardens.
The sea.
The slightly messy moments in between.
And photographs of people where they’re comfortable being seen.
Those are the memories I’ll begin sharing here.
Not because I need to prove the retreats happened.
But because after all these years, I think it’s time to show a little more of this part of my work.
If you come on one of my retreats, you never have to be photographed.
You never have to tell your story publicly.
You never have to share something in the group because everyone else is sharing.
And you never have to appear on my website or social media.
If you’re comfortable being photographed, wonderful.
If you’re not, that’s equally fine.
I want you to be able to forget about how the experience looks from the outside and actually
experience it from the inside.
My retreats will remain intimate.
I don’t want a room filled with 30 or 40 people whose names I don’t know.
I want to know who’s sitting at the table.
I want us to be able to have conversations.
I want there to be enough flexibility to change the plan if everyone is tired or the weather is beautiful
and we’d rather go to the sea.
Small groups give us that freedom.
They also allow the experience to feel personal without requiring anyone to perform intimacy or share
more than they want to.
Hopefully, you’ll leave rested.
Hopefully, you’ll have slept.
Hopefully, you’ll have laughed.
Maybe you’ll understand your body a little differently.
Maybe you’ll have discovered a practice you want to keep.
Maybe something we’ve discussed about strength, sleep, longevity or midlife will change one small
thing you do when you get home.
And maybe you’ll simply have had a really lovely few days.
I think that’s enough.
I’m currently creating the next retreat.
The location, dates, number of places and full details will be announced when they’re ready.
If this sounds like something you’d like to be part of, join the private interest list.
You’ll hear about it first.
